Tony’s Jamaican Food/Mi Yaad (Jamaican)

Tony and Kim Scott are bringing the vibrant flavors of the Caribbean to North Austin. The couple met serendipitously in 2004 at an ice skating rink in North Cross Mall, and since then, their shared love of community and food has grown into a series of restaurants and a vision for a neighborhood gathering space.

Tony opened his first Tony’s Jamaican on E 11th Street in 2012, followed by locations in Pflugerville in 2017 and Braker Lane in 2022. Their goal has always been more than just serving delicious food—they want to create a place where people come together. At Mi Yaad, their food truck park and community space, Tony and Kim are building a diverse hub with different cuisines, a hookah lounge, a thrift store, and space for community gatherings. “We want to partner with neighborhood groups, musicians, restaurants, and to be their cheerleader,” Kim says. “You’ve got a vision? You think this is a place you can grow? Come try it.”

The menu brings authentic Caribbean flavors to Austin, with jerk chicken and oxtail among the standout dishes. Beyond food, Tony and Kim focus on events that strengthen the neighborhood, including Tuesday night karaoke, reggae nights, movie nights, and fundraisers like upcoming hurricane relief efforts.

Tony’s Jamaican / Mi Yaad is more than a restaurant—it’s a place to connect, celebrate diversity, and enjoy the vibrant tastes and culture of the Caribbean right here in Austin.
